Hi!!! I’ve been in Kenya for a week! I’m overwhelmed with the love of God and people around me. We started in Nairobi; learning about the Kenyan culture, Swahili, Muslim evangelism, etc. It was our last couple days as a squad of 30. We played cards, sang worship, hung out, etc. Then, we separated in teams of 6. We’re all over the country! My team took a local van for about 4/5 hours to our new home! My team is at a girls orphanage called: New Dawn African Girl. There are about 25 children! We will be here for about 40 days! Praise God!!! I want as much time as possible with these sweet girls!!!!! Our first night here at the orphanage we got the privilege to listen to the girls worship. AWE- is the only word I can use to describe it. It brought me to tears immediately. The love they have for the Lord was so evident. Their voices were so pure and powerful. Mama Nancy is our host mom- and is a true mother role model to all of these little girls. The love around this place is unmatched. The girls have already given me so many new perspectives. Their giggles melt my soul. Their smiles are EVERYTHING!!!! Hugging them is such a gift. They show true sisterhood and are constantly caring for each other. I’m so hopeful for what the Lord will teach us during our time here. Mama Nancy challenged us to ask God: “Why am I here. What is my purpose here?” I can come up with what I think- LOVE. To give and receive. However, I think God is going to show me that AND so much more. It’s funny how we thought we would come in teaching the girls when they have already taught us so much. I feel extremely blessed to have the opportunity to serve them in any way I can. God is so good. I truly feel like he calls me to go exactly where he wants me. I am getting daily affirmations from Him. I can’t wait to continue to grow, share, learn, and see everything through the goodness of Him.
